Online Play Beyond Casino Nova Scotia

Both casinos in Nova Scotia, one in Halifax and one in Sydney, are buildings a visitor walks into. Online play follows separate rules in the province, and this page puts them in plain words.

Online in Nova Scotia

The provincial site: alc.ca

The provincially regulated online site in Nova Scotia is alc.ca. Atlantic Lottery runs it for the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation (NSGC), the Crown corporation that manages regulated gambling in the province. Online tickets and an online casino have been on alc.ca since July 2022. Live dealer games, games hosted by a real dealer, were added in the latter part of 2025-26.

The four Atlantic provincial governments own Atlantic Lottery. It also runs ticket lottery, video lottery and sports betting products for Nova Scotia. Online or in a building, the gambling age in the province is 19. All Atlantic Lottery products are 19+. The Gaming Control Act also bars anyone under the age of majority from playing a game of chance in a casino.

Other online casino sites

Atlantic Lottery has a stated position on other online gambling sites. It says it is the only fully legal, government-regulated online gambling provider in Atlantic Canada. As Atlantic Lottery sees it, no other site may operate or advertise legally in Atlantic Canada. Atlantic Lottery adds that an overseas licence, meaning a licence issued in another country, does not change this. The Two Rooms desk gives it here as Atlantic Lottery's statement, not as its own ruling.

Nova Scotia has no licensing scheme for private online casino operators. The province does not issue such operators a licence of its own.

Breaks and limits on alc.ca

On alc.ca, a short break can be anywhere between 1 and 90 days. Long breaks come in four lengths: 6, 12, 24 or 36 months. No break of either length can be reversed. A Take a Break button is on every wager screen, the screen where a bet is placed.

The site also offers three limits. A weekly deposit limit caps the money added to the account each week. With a daily session limit, playing sessions are restricted within one day. A daily wager limit caps the total amount bet in a day.

How this guide is paid

This guide is no casino, so it takes no wagers and opens no accounts. Every paid link is marked Ad, and the home page holds all of them. The menu shows one, a block under the opening screen shows another, and a block near the page's foot shows the third. Adults who follow any of the three land on one private online casino, and this partner gives the guide a commission. No page names it, and the guide may switch to a different partner.

The partner is not a provincial site. It is not run, approved or licensed by Nova Scotia. It has no connection with either casino, their operator, NSGC, Atlantic Lottery or alc.ca. Atlantic Lottery's view of private online sites applies to it too. Clicking an Ad link is the reader's own choice.
