Help and method

Getting Help Near Casino Nova Scotia

First help in Nova Scotia: phone 1-888-429-8167 (Provincial Mental Health and Addictions Crisis Line) or visit a centre inside each casino. Below that, the Two Rooms desk explains how it checks what it prints and what it leaves out.

Where to get help

  • Number 1-888-429-8167 reaches Nova Scotia Health's Provincial Mental Health and Addictions Crisis Line. The number is toll-free, calls cost nothing and stay confidential, day and night, all week.
  • Mental Health and Addictions Intake, 1-855-922-1122, is for help that is not a crisis. It answers Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, with voicemail on weekends.
  • The 988 Suicide Crisis Helpline is open 24 hours a day.
  • The Responsible Gambling Resource Centre in Halifax is on the gaming floor near Trapeze Restaurant, phone 902-424-8663. In Sydney the centre is inside the main entrance, phone 902-563-3797.
  • Voluntary Self-Exclusion covers both casinos, Centre 200 excluded, for 6 months, one year, three years or indefinite. Sign-up is through casino staff, either resource centre or Service Nova Scotia in Halifax or Sydney.

A limit set at home

In Halifax, live tables run daily from 2 p.m. to 3 a.m. The high-limit area, a room with higher table limits, stays open to 4 a.m. The clock will not end the night, so the stopping point has to come from somewhere else.

Decide an amount and a stop time before leaving home. The amount is what the night may cost. That limit is about spending, not winning. It stays the same after a win or a loss.

The Two Rooms desk

Written and signed by the whole team, this guide carries the name of the Two Rooms desk. No personal byline sits on any page, and no author name appears anywhere on the site. Facts were checked on October 10, 2026. The sources were the casinos' own pages, the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation (NSGC), Service Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Health, yourbestbet.ca and Atlantic Lottery. Unpublished venue hours appear as not published; for holiday hours, readers should check the venue's own site.

Straight lines link OpenStreetMap points to give every distance, and the points mark 55 towns and cities and both casino buildings (© OpenStreetMap contributors). Roads are longer than straight lines, especially across water, so the guide does not estimate driving times.

Three pictures are Wikimedia Commons photographs (CC BY-SA 2.0) by Tony Webster and A Disappearing Act, credited under each picture and in the image sources below. People, cars and a street sign were removed and the light changed. The other three were made by software and are not photographs; the autumn highway is invented, and no picture here shows people. The two slot floors follow real photographs of the Sydney and Halifax rooms, seen from a new spot and in different light. Nothing here uses forms, comments, accounts or counting cookies; colour or tool settings may stay in your browser, and analytics sees your IP and browser details.

  • The Sydney casino seen across its parking lot (home page, Sydney room): photograph “Casino and Centre 200 in Sydney, Nova Scotia” by A Disappearing Act, file on Wikimedia Commons, licence CC BY-SA 2.0. Changed: cars, people and a drive-thru arrow sign removed, the grey sky turned into midday sun, sharpened, cropped at the left.
  • The canopy of the Sydney casino at the street (door page): photograph “Casino Nova Scotia in Sydney, Canada” by A Disappearing Act, file on Wikimedia Commons, licence CC BY-SA 2.0. Changed: cars, a no-parking post and an arrow sign removed, evening light added, sharpened.
